Next year, Bob Delf will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his Kirkland, Wash., business that began by allowing customers to special order bottles that carried personalized labels. Thanks in part to his partnership with Yakima Valley winemaker Robert Smasne, he’s taken his brand to the next level, which includes remarkable artwork produced by Olsen Creative and wine country photographer Richard Duval. This 2008 Spofford Station Syrah from Milton-Freewater, Ore., brings gamy and bacon aromas with red plums, Bing cherries and chocolate. The palate takes off on the massive midpalate that brings blackberries, darker plums and chocolate flavors, capped by a grand finish of crushed walnut.
