The Hutch Holiday Gala

The Company

The Hutch Holiday Gala is the top charitable auction in Washington State, raising $5,000,000 in 2005. The gala has raised over $49 million in the 31 years since its inception, and attracts over 850 attendees annually. Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) relies on the auction to raise money for teams of world-renowned scientists and humanitarians who work together to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer, HIV/AIDS and other diseases. Visit www.hutchgala.com for more information.

Their Goals

Continue to meet or exceed fundraising goals by attracting new guests and recognizing existing guests.

Our Solution

Create a unique gift, consistent with the look and feel of the event, with a message from a young Hutch patient to present to winning bidders. Northwest Cellars, which offers free label design and set up for non profits, made a specially-labeled bottle of champagne, which was given, along with chocolates, to each of the 50 guests who purchased a live auction item at the gala. The guest could choose to drink it that night or take it home as a memento.

"The process of creating custom label wine with Northwest Cellars
was seamless, and an easy way to differentiate our event
from the sea of auctions occurring in the city."

Sherri Swingle, Gala Director, Hutch Holiday Gala

The Results

The custom labels allowed the Hutch Holiday Gala to send a lasting, targeted message to patrons and recognize them at the time of their winning bid.

"This is a very thoughtful, touching way to show appreciation
to the donors and the label, with a thank you note from a Hutch patient,
really sums up the work at the Hutchinson Center.
The champagne was delicious as well!"

Troy & Anissa Hickey, guests of the 2005 Hutch Holiday Gala
